Over the years I’ve run workshops in schools colleges and libraries, in association with the Read A Million Words In Wales initiative or in projects run by councils or education authorities. Most recently, I’ve been involved in a series of projects with the Sixth Form at Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn Special School, Swansea. With the students there I’ve contributed work and taken classes involving Doctor Who and A Christmas Carol. This year, I’ll be discussing James Bond in graphic form.
November last, I ran a series of workshops in several Torfaen Libraries, getting children to design heroes and monsters, and to create stories around them. In the past I’ve run a whole series of successful workshops in the Blaenau-Gwent library system. Most recently, I ran what I hope to be the first of several comics workshops at Coleg Gwent.
I’ve also been guest lecturer in Storyboarding at the Atrium, University of South Wales.
For schools, libraries and education authorities that are interested in commissioning such classes, I can tailor the workshops to groups aged 8-20+, with numbers from a dozen or so up to 30 (or more within reason and teacher involvement) please contact me at freakhousegraphics@gmail.com to discuss fees and material needs.
If you are interested im commisioning Mike for a workshop at your local library or school please contact him.
